The Wedding Fairs – A spring review!

With our three spring shows done and dusted, we look back at some of the Wedding Fairs highlights…

What a way to start the year – 3 fantastic shows, full of beautiful brides from all over the country! It’s all flown by so quickly that we’ve barely had time to look back and remember all of the amazing sights and sounds the Wedding Fair has provided over the past few months.

Our Kent, Manchester and London shows are now wrapped up until Autumn, and what fun they were. From the glamorous Catwalk Shows to the beautiful Prosecco Bars, we couldn’t have crammed more planning fun in if we tried. Having finally had a chance to put our feet up and reflect, we thought we’d run a quick recap of our favourite moments at our spring shows…

Firstly, as always, it was fantastic to see so many friendly Brides and Grooms joining us to plan their big day. It’s always a treat to see so many happy faces, busy creating those unforgettable Wedding memories at the shows, whether it be with their partner, a relative or the whole bridal party. We hope you had an amazing day and found absolutely everything to make your planning, wedding day and of course, your honeymoon as special as possible!

As well, it is of course no secret that the incredible ladies and gents at TLC joined us at The Wedding Fair at ExCeL, London to hold live auditions with the lovely Mr David Emanuel in attendance for the launch of the UK version of hugely popular American show ‘Say Yes To The Dress’. It was an absolute pleasure to see David chatting away with so many brides, and the auditions were a lot of fun – we can’t wait to see some of you popping up on the show in a few short months! ‘Say Yes To The Dress UK’ launches in July and we’ll have the team back with us in autumn at both the London and Manchester shows if you’d like to audition to be in Series 2…

Wherever we went, the Catwalk Shows were of course the highlight of the weekend. With dresses from some of the top designers in the wedding world including Allure Bridals, Naomi Neoh, Justin Alexander and Hayley Paige we saw the backs of more camera phones than we did faces as excited brides snapped photos of the show and, of course, their favourite dresses. With 25 catwalk shows over the 3 events, you would have thought we’d have seen enough. Far from it… we’re still humming the songs and happily flicking through photos! It was always a happy sight to see excited brides leave the catwalk to hunt for their favourite dress and try it on at the Essential Bridalwear collection.

Despite plenty to keep us busy at the Fair, we always found ourselves wandering off and enjoying the features dotted around. Whether we were popping our heads into the Benefit Makeup Masterclasses to see the girls deliver expert lessons on how to perfect that big day makeup, or heading over to the Reception Cocktail Crafting Sessions with the Shack Revolution, who showed us how to make their delicious wedding favourites (hic!) there was plenty to keep us entertained. The Vintage Wedding Village at both Manchester and Kent added a few ideas to our quickly filling scrap books, and the amazing Creative Brides Crafts Workshops helped combine our obsessions with both DIY Weddings and all things glittery!

When we weren’t perfecting our personalised tote bags or mixing an Apple Collins, you could find us cutting shapes at the Entertainment Stage. UTC events as always bringing a spectacular line up – whether we were unashamedly singing along to classics with a barbershop quartet or dancing with delight as a 12 person band played our favourites, there was never a dull (or un-danceable) moment when they took to the stage.
The only thing able to draw us away from the amazing sounds of the Entertainment Stage was the sweet smell of the DIY Flower Market where you could make your own beautiful Bridesmaid Bouquet, or chic flower crown. Roses are red, Violets are blue, we loved this feature, and so did you!

It was with open mouths each time we passed the Inspired Bakes stand – we swear they get better every year! Whether you want a classic, white tiered cake as tall as you, or a multi-coloured creation to wow your guests, there was everything imaginable at The Wedding Fair this season. Chocolate, sponge, berries, icing, cream… too much temptation on one table!
The only thing to halt our craving for cake was a delicious glass of bubbly (or two) at the Prosecco Bar. Whether you wanted to have a quick glass of fizz while you pondered all you’d seen at the fair, or share a bottle with the bridal party, the Prosecco Bar was the place to sit, catch up on the days finds and have a nice cold glass of bubbly in a great setting. The Prosecco Bar pavilion in London certainly turned a few heads…

And with that, it’s all over for another season. We’re packing away the photo booths and waving away the wedding planners. Saying ‘See You Soon’ to the silverware and ‘Sayonara’ to the string quartets. We return in September, with our Manchester and ExCeL shows that already look set to be choc-a-bloc full of great features, wonderful exhibitors and the most up to date looks & trends for the whole Bridal Party.

Until then, from the whole Wedding Fairs team – thank you, and happy planning!
