If you are boasting a brand new bobby dazzler on your ring finger, you are in luck! I’m confident that at The North West Wedding Fair there is something for every newly engaged bride to be in 2014, whatever your style and budget.

The very first thing that most girls do when he pops the question (other than crack open the bubbly!) is start to think about “the one”. Not him, silly, the dress. As editor of, I’ve already had a sneak peek at the gorgeous gowns that have just landed in bridal boutiques and will be showcasing on an exhibition stand near you for the season ahead.
Back in 2013, I visited White Gallery London – a huge exhibition and set of catwalk shows at which the big name bridal designers launch their new season collections to the trade and press. Let me tell you, if you are in the market for wedding dresses this spring, you are in for a treat!

The collections this year have something for everyone with glitz, feathers and embellishment as well as simpler styles too. Skirts are either voluminous or sleek and swishy. Many wedding dress designers drew inspiration from bygone eras – with the 1920s and 1930s being popular influences and the craze for adding a pop of colour to your wedding gown continues for spring/ summer 2014 with a watercolour wash of pastel shades on offer. Fashionista Ian Stuart led the way with his candy coloured Frill Me! Collection and my other favourites included Suzanne Neville’s Vintage Rose Collection, Stephanie Allin’s fairy-tale gowns and boho styling from Terry Fox Couture.

Design has fallen into two camps for 2014. Some designers keep things clean and minimal, with a focus on structure and tailoring and others go heavy on the details – watch out for check out flirty t-shirt sleeves, deep pockets, daisy detailing and polka dots as well as the usual sequins and lace. Skirts are either voluminous or sleek and swishy and whatever your hemline preference: short, long or even trousers, there is something for you.

At The North West Wedding Fair there are ten beautiful Catwalk Shows over three days bringing wedding dresses and looks to life. So whether you fancy something modern or are more of a traditionalist, you can be sure to find inspiration for the perfect dress for you.
