Simon from The Hand Dyed Shoe Company tells us why he thinks custom shoes are an important part of the grooms outfit!

Beneath every great man is a great pair of shoes. They say, women can tell a lot about a man from the shoes he’s wearing, yet we all wear poorly made shoes.

There’s not a lot of things for the boys when it comes to the wedding. You organise your suit – often hired thus not yours – your wedding ring and a stag weekend. When I married my wife,  I was given a pair of cuff links which whilst beautiful, I admit they’re in a box at the back of my sock drawer. I’ve just not had another reason to wear them again since…

It’s this very reason I believe that your wedding shoes take on extra significance for the most important day of your life. Shoes are something you wear often. Interviews, christenings, other weddings… or even work!

Having a pair of custom made shoes, one-of-one, is the perfect memento to your day. Not only will they last a lifetime, but they will transport you back to that day every single time you slip your feet into them. In adding a personalised monogram such as your wedding date, you can take the personal touch to a new level.

Designing your own shoes is a great experience. It’s about much more than just asking for your size and paying at the till. What you’re doing is putting your stamp on your individuality and style which is exactly what your wedding is. A jigsaw of tiny details that merge together to create your day. You’re creating something that is exclusively yours that becomes part of your wedding and your marriage beyond your day.

Any wedding day is a tale of romance and stories. The day you first laid eyes on each other, the proposal, the in-laws and the journey you both go on leading you to this day. A custom designed, one of a kind pair of shoes is an extension of your story. Your shoes won’t be left in the back of a drawer, they’ll come out time and time again transporting you back to your day! Instead, create your story. Be yourself, be unique, be individual.

…… here comes the groom!
