Getting married in Italy – Top 5 places to visit

Would you like to get married in Italy? Are you dreaming of your destination wedding? We at I do in Italy can think of a few excellent reasons why you should make your dream come true in Italy!

Italy is beautiful, all of it, from north to south and you are sure to find that one special place that will steal your heart away.

LAKE REGION

Take the Lake Region, for instance: Lake Maggiore has long been an internationally popular tourist destination, famous for its majestic botanical gardens, its elegant and refined historic mansions, its big luxury hotels, the small gems emerging from the lake waters, such as Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre, and the charming lakeside towns of Verbania, Baveno, Stresa and Arona. And the other lakes in the region are just as tempting: Lake Orta – with the island of San Giulio and its XI Century monastery- and Lake Mergozzo. Finally, in a quiet corner of Lake Maggiore, the rocky Cannero isles, famous for their generous production of citrus fruit. Sometimes beauty crystallises into architectural form: this is the case with Villa Claudia dei Marchesi Dal Pozzo and Villa & Palazzo Aminta, which we recommend you visit.

TUSCANY

Travelling southward towards central Italy, you will reach Tuscany. Here, only a few miles from central Florence, surrounded by the green Tuscan hills, stands the Vincigliata Castle, one of the most spectacular and romantic venues you will ever see. This is an ideal place in which so spend a sultry summer evening. On the Tuscan coast, not far from Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi you will also find the country house known as Casale Olimagiò, framed by the stunning range of the Apuan Alps and surrounded by ancient olive trees. If the wedding style you are after is on the green-chic side and you are dreaming of an en-plein-air reception, this is the venue for you.

ROME

If you would rather get married in the city, we suggest you book exclusive seats to enjoy a unique spectacle: we offer you a breath-taking view of Rome’s rooftops from the stunning roof garden of the Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel. This architectural jewel is located at the very heart of Italy’s capital city, within walking distance of Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Vatican. The original building was a monastery and it has since undergone a meticulous restoration, in full accordance with the baroque architectural standards and the original project by Borromini, before being re-opened to the public as a hotel. This is a peerless location for receptions, events or just for a well-deserved, relaxing break.

THE AMALFI COAST

There are places that seem to have been designed for the specific purposes of being the ideal background to romantic dreams and the exchanging of wedding vows. The Amalfi Coast is one such and the terrace of Villa San Giacomo is tangible proof of this. We are in Positano. The setting sun is lighting up the sky in delicate hues of red, a gentle breeze blows from the sea, the scent of lemons inebriates you and you feel like you can daydream at leisure. It’s easy to feel at home here.

TAORMINA

There’s another corner of paradise, suspended between heaven and earth, also known as Taormina. This precious Sicilian gem boasts a surpassingly beautiful scenery, on the promontory of mount Etna that slopes down into the sea. This popular tourist destination welcomes thousands of tourists every year and never fails to amaze and enchant them with its sunny beaches and countless, ancient historical sights, with its lush gardens and exquisite wines and culinary traditions. Here you will find two gorgeous venues: the Atlantis Bay Grand Hotel and the Mazzarò Sea Palace Grand Hotel.
