How to improve your hair for your wedding day

Congratulations on your engagement! Have you considered how you’ll wear your hair for your wedding day? Amongst the many options, you may have considered wearing your hair down.

Wearing hair down on your wedding day is a beautiful option. However, there are many brides who lack confidence in the condition of their hair. Do not despair! We’ve put together some helpful tips for preserving your luscious locks so you can say “I do” with ribbons down your back.

Tip – Opt for a stylish headband or flower-crown instead of wearing a veil.

Are you a DIY colourist? Or do you have a fabulous colourist but maybe you’re saving your pennies & your hair is paying the price?

One of the best ways of improving your hair colour at low cost, without using harsh chemicals, is to book a colour glossing treatment. This is a great way of masking unwanted tones and blending highlights in between lightening services.

Tip – Not a big fan of frequent visits to the salon?

Try “Balayage” this is a French term for “Sweeping” where clay-based lightener is painted onto the hair. This technique has been around since the 70’s but it’s even more in fashion nowadays. Some of our clients will wait up to six months without asking for a refresh on their lightening and opt for a toner or colour glossing in between treatments.

Are you a bit torn over your bridal look because your hair doesn’t hold curl well, or it’s lacking length and volume?

Tip – Try big, loose curls with a Half Up-style and a side or centre parting. You can easily add extensions for length, thickness, and hold. Natural hair extensions can be curled, set, and will last the day!

Improve your hair by maintaining ends & sleeping with silk.

I’m often asked by brides what I can recommend for hair growth, breakage, and better skin. So my first questions are, “Do you get your ends trimmed regularly?” and… “Do you have a silk pillowcase?” and most often the response is “No, why?” Then my reply is a deep sigh…

Firstly, getting your hair trimmed regularly will tremendously improve the condition of your hair. When you get split ends, they can split all the way to the root and be the cause of thinning hair.

Tip – Silk is a fibre and Satin is a finish. Opt for Pure Silk as this is a natural fibre. Polyester just won’t cut it.

Tip – Try using a natural bristle brush as this will draw the natural oils of your hair down the hair shaft and replenish your ends.

Sleeping with silk – It comes in many shapes and sizes but I recommend to any silk-starter, the best way to incorporate this into your sleeping beauty routine is to invest in a silk sleeping mask, along with a hair wrap or silk pillowcase. There are a number of companies which supply high-quality silk products, including Silke London and Holistic Silk.

Not feeling motivated? Cast your worries away by burning some extra calories. This can be surprisingly effective for improving your health. And you guessed it – your hair!

Be a naturally blushing bride with a happy, healthy glow. Getting exercise gives you instant stress relief. Not only will your skin thank you, but your hair will grow faster and longer too!
