Having worked in the wedding industry for ten years, Victoria Paterson, wedding manager at Matfen Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa has seen all kinds of wedding trends come and go. She gives us five reasons why a traditional venue will always be timeless.

  1. Having a traditional venue doesn’t mean you have to have a traditional wedding

In fact, you’ll find that well established venues have amazing ideas from previous weddings they have the experience of hosting. Even though your venue might be a stately home or castle, you can still choose a theme that reflects you both as a couple and is memorable for your guests. Most venues, as Matfen Hall does, will also have an onsite wedding coordinating team. They are there to help you plan your special day and make sure everything goes smoothly.

  1. Most traditional venues offer a full-service experience

In recent years there seems to have been an increase in couples looking for really quirky and ‘out there’ wedding venues. But, planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to consider the additional services.  With most traditional venues will have their own on-site catering, linen, crockery, glassware and accommodation. This means that you won’t have to source your own or worry about transport for your guests.

  1. Wedding packages make managing costs easier

Planning a wedding can be a costly affair, once you take into consideration dresses, flowers, catering, decorations, invitations, etc. costs can start to spiral out of control. Traditional venues tend to create their own wedding packages to suit a range of budgets. Choosing a wedding package can help to stay in control of your budget and stop costs from getting out of control.

  1. They have really good links with local suppliers

If you’re from out of the area, or don’t have a clue which florist or photographer to use, most traditional venues will have a list of their go-to suppliers. Even if you need to source something that’s quite unusual. Chances are that a traditional venue will be able to find it for you through their well-established networks.

  1. The weather doesn’t have to dictate your day

Most traditional venues will offer year-round weddings and you might even find that a winter wedding or midweek wedding could be more cost effective and just as memorable. They will also have contingency plans in case your outdoor wedding is the victim of typical British summer showers! Meaning you won’t have to worry about a last-minute change of location if the heavens open.
